The Burr Ridge Club is one of the most beautiful “jewel-case”communities in the United States. Architecture
The architecture, reflecting English Tudor and French Country detailing in the exteriors of fine residences found throughout Northern Europe, has stood the aesthetic taste of time. All homes have slate roofs and thick stucco walls and are landscaped appropriately. Yet each home has a unique combination of details both outside and within. The homes stand on rolling terrain beside ponds under towering pines and other specimen trees. The 35-acre site was once a private estate with a nine-hole private golf course and many of the large trees remain.
The club was carefully planned to avoid the rigid and sterile setting of some contemporary developments which soon show “decade dating.” The Burr Ridge Club makes a singular architectural statement, which produces the atmosphere of an elegant European country village that was beautiful hundreds of years ago, is beautiful today and will be beautiful on into time.
Environmental Features
The basic layout was conceived to provide residents luxurious homes laid out in clusters rather than conventional streets. This allowed for the preservation of magnificent trees and shrubbery which could be enjoyed without individual lot maintenance. The clubhouse, swimming pool and sport courts are shared recreational amenities. While there is adequate parking and access, the primary emphasis is to minimize pavement and traffic.
